“Welcome! Come see what my hands have been making. These baskets are woven one piece at a time. It takes patience to weave each strand together.”
“We use baskets for carrying bread, grain, fruit, and other things needed for daily life. A basket may look simple, but every strand has a purpose.”
“Tonight, however, the whole city seems to be talking about something greater. A baby has been born in Bethlehem.”
“The shepherds say angels appeared to them and announced His birth!”

Activity: Look at stars, give away star stickers to remind look for the star

**We are magi from the East.  We study the stars and we are advisors to the king.  Long ago, there was a chief Magi who was actually from Israel.  His name was Daniel.  There are many stories about him about how he was thrown into the lion’s den and his God saved him.  Have you heard of him?  He is famous, right?Anyway, long ago, when he was our chief magi, he taught us the prophecies of his people.  Look, here in one of the scrolls of his people, it talks about a scepter coming out of Jacob.  It talks about the star coming out.  We believe that stars tell of coming kings, so when we saw this star, we remembered this prophesy and began looking for this messiah king that was prophesied about.  We were not sure where to look, so we went where we thought a king would be.  We went to the king’s palace.  He did not know of a king being born but asked his own Wise men or scribes as they call them.  We looked in the scroll of Micah 5:2.  

You know what is said?  It said that He would be born in Bethlehem.  So, we came here looking for him and guess what?  WE FOUND HIM.  He was born in a stable just over there.  It seems like a weird place to find such an important king messiah, but some of our Magi are still over there.  Here is a star for you to remind you to go find the other Wisemen and ask them about the baby King they found.

 A man and his very pregnant wife are even in my stable with the animals!
Please take this list of places to visit in our town.
I hope you will stop by to be registered for the census at the Magistrate’s office and that you can find a place to rest your head this evening.

**Wow.  Lots of people coming into Bethlehem today to be registered for the census.  Where did you travel from?  You are In Bethlehem now!  Do you know where that is on the map? What mode of travel did you use?  I heard a  family that is a descendent of King David named Mary and Joseph traveled here from Nazareth on a donkey and had a baby named Jesus.  Of course we are celebrating baby Jesus’ birth but did you know that later in Jesus’ life He told His dis-lipless that wherever they traveled they were supposed to tell people about God’s love.    Where on this map would you want to travel to tell people about the love of Jesus?  We can be like all these missionaries who travel all over the world to share Jesus!

**Did you hear that baby Jesus was born?  I heard that Jesus’ earthly dad is Joseph, a carpenter that makes things from wood just like we are tonight.  I heard that Joseph and Mary and baby Jesus were visited by some shepherds.  The  shepherds said that some angels appeared to them and told them a special baby had been born, and that they would find the baby wrapped in swaddling cloths and lying in a manger or animal feeding trough.  Then shepherds came to Bethlehem and looked for the baby.  They said they found baby Jesus wrapped in cloth, in a feeding trough just like the angels said! Do you think they were surprised when they found exactly what the angels said?  IF you were the shepherd, would you have believed the angels?  Luke 2:10-17

But tonight, everyone is talking about something different.
Shepherds came through the streets saying they had seen angels!

**Come and enjoy our spices.  We use spices in our to cook with and flavor our foods.  We uses spices to burn as incense when we worship God.  We uses spices in perfumes in order to smell better.  I was told that some Wise Men came to town bearing some very special spices to give as a gift to baby Jesus.  Do you know the names of the spices the wise men brought?  Frankincense - incense burned when worshipping God,  Myrrh - spice made into an oil used as perfume to put on dead bodies

Tonight, Bethlehem is filled with travelers because of Caesar's decree. Yet while people are busy with their own plans, God is carrying out His plan.
A baby has been born here in Bethlehem.
And this child is no ordinary child.
He is the One God promised.

But tonight, there is something far more important happening in Bethlehem.
Have you heard? A child has been born—the child the prophets spoke about.
His name is Jesus.
He may look like an ordinary baby, but the angel said:
‘For he shall save his people from their sins.’ — Matthew 1:21
A carpenter works with wood to build something that will last. But God is building something far greater through this child—His plan to bring salvation to His people.
